Visual Art > Becoming

What is trauma? What is justice? What does it mean to forgive? To forget?

Bobby English Jr. performs through prayer, ritual and song in order to discuss the reality of social woes and the many sides of racism. Asking questions, challenging his audience, and debating radical ideas. At the root, my art is a search for truth, ancestry, and compassion for all people.

In Becoming, English performs a cycle of birth and death through movement, installation, acting, song, etc; surrounded by his memories, ancestors, and history.

Performed at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD.
