"Let there be," and then there was...Man was born from the Earth. Here I meditate my own birth from the clay I was molded from to this living being caught between clarity and the blindness or veil that's been cast over our eyes once we lose our innocence.
My religious background came through a lot with this piece. A friend of mine once asked me, "Where do you think you came from?" I immediately responded with, "The Earth." I imagined myself as this figure growing out of the Earth like a plant. Very still, very slowly growing, breathing, but at a very slow pace. Animals and other organisms may have crawled all over me during this period of slow birth as I was becoming something more. Eventually I would be released into the world free to discover.
